Indonesia also invited German investors to support the development of the semiconductor industry, enter the critical mineral and rare earth supply chain, and the infrastructure sector.
Responding to President Prabowo’s statement, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed optimism about the completion of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) negotiations, which have been ongoing for years.
According to him, the agreement will open up significant opportunities for increased trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Indonesia and European Union countries.
President Steinmeier emphasized that Berlin and Jakarta share a common interest in creating a stronger and mutually beneficial economic and trade framework.
“Indonesia and Germany also share a shared desire to establish a sound framework for trade and the economy. We hope that the Indonesia-Europe CEPA agreement, which has been negotiated for a long time, will finally be signed,” Steinmeier said.
He explained that the agreement’s implementation has the potential to eliminate most tariff barriers to trade between Indonesia and the European Union, thereby increasing trade flows between both parties.
