Investment realization in The Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, shows a positive trend, booking a total of IDR 6.018 trillion (around USD 354 million) by the end of 2025.
According to a report by Investor Daily on Sunday (May 24), this capital growth successfully generated new employment opportunities, absorbing 26,002 workers in the region.
This surge in investment goes hand-in-hand with the growing vibrancy of Lombok’s tourism, rising hotel occupancy rates, and increasingly busy flight routes to the island.
The main magnet for investors lies in the integrated tourism destination concept. The Mandalika SEZ encompasses various sectors, ranging from luxury resorts, lifestyle tourism, and mixed-use development to modern utilities and a supporting ecosystem for motorsport.
Responding to this positive report, Troy Warokka, Chief Operations Officer of InJourney Tourism Development Corporation, assessed that this dynamic serves as clear evidence of growing optimism among businesses regarding the region’s future.
“The entry of various new investors reflects the strengthening confidence of the business sector in the massive potential held by The Mandalika as an international-scale tourism hub,” Troy said.
Rising Trends in Visitor Numbers
Positive signals regarding the progress of this sustainable tourism destination development were also echoed by investors who have committed capital to Central Lombok.
As of December 2025, as many as 27 domestic and international companies—including corporations from Singapore, Japan, Spain, the United States, and Morocco—have actively operated within the Mandalika area.
The revitalization of the tourism sector is clearly captured by the volume of tourist arrivals, which breached 285,003 people between January and April 2026. During the same period, hotel occupancy rates stood at 44.57%, while the average length of stay for tourists also edged up to 2.33 days from just 1.96 days in the previous year.
This performance leap is further validated by air traffic data from Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM), which recorded the movement of 850,319 passengers from January to April 2026—an 18.4% jump compared to last year.
“The increase in the length of stay and occupancy indicates that travelers are now enjoying The Mandalika as a destination for longer vacations. The domino effect of this trend naturally flows directly into the pockets of local MSMEs, neighborhood businesses, and the hospitality industry,” Troy concluded.
