Central Lombok Tourism Office Drafts Regulations for Tourist Attractions Management

Lombok Tourism

The Tourism Office of Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, has begun drafting regulations for the management of tourist attractions and tourism villages in an effort to improve hospitality services for visitors.

“We are currently upgrading data on tourist sites, including their management, as part of the process for drafting regulations on the governance of destination sites,” said the Head of the Central Lombok Tourism Office, Lalu Muhamad Hatta, in Central Lombok, on Monday.

In this assessment, he added, all stakeholders, including academics and the development acceleration team, are being involved to support sustainable management of tourism villages.

Improvement of Hospitality Standards

Lalu Muhamad Hatta further emphasized that the development of tourism villages and attractions is not solely about physical construction; it requires strong governance so these destinations continue to have a positive impact on economic growth.

“Development must remain sustainable, not just about building physical structures. We need innovation in developing tourism potential to increase visitor numbers, which in turn will positively impact the community’s economic growth,” he stated.

Because of this, the current focus for destination development is on management and the improvement of hospitality standards, ensuring that visiting tourists feel both safe and comfortable.

“Improving hospitality is our priority, which is why we are beginning to draft the management regulations for these destinations,” he concluded.

Catalyst for Investor Confidence

In any emerging market, the greatest enemy of foreign investment is uncertainty. The recent initiative by the Central Lombok Tourism Office to draft formal management regulations for tourist attractions marks a significant shift toward the institutionalization of the island’s tourism sector.

By involving academics and development acceleration teams to verify and validate 34 active tourism villages, local authorities are sending a clear signal: Lombok is moving toward a quality-over-quantity model.

For an investors interested setting up business in Lombok tourism sector, this level of government oversight is a primary driver of trust. It ensures that the surrounding infrastructure, service standards, and community engagement are being managed under a professional roadmap.
