According to Antara News, Indonesia’s Law Ministry’s Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) and the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO) held meetings in Jakarta to review ongoing cooperation in the field of intellectual property (IP) including training for law enforcement, capacity building for intellectual property examiners, and training on the utilization and commercialization of IP.
“This collaboration is not only important for DJKI but also all stakeholders in intellectual property in Indonesia,” DJKI’s director of cooperation, empowerment, and education, Yasmon, said during their meeting on Wednesday (22/1/25.)
He noted that the collaborative programs started in September 2024 and, during the meeting with DKPTO, shared three main proposals for cooperation in 2025.
Antara News reports the first of these proposals is related to human resource development for IP examiners, including those specializing in patents, trademarks, and industrial designs. The second is related to discussions and knowledge transfer regarding the National Intellectual Property Strategy, and the third is digital piracy training for members of the Indonesian Intellectual Property Operations Task Force.
He emphasized that deliberating on the National Intellectual Property Strategy is crucial as his team is responsible for discussing and drafting the national strategy.
Meanwhile, the secretary of DJKI, Andrieansyah, shared further proposals related to digital issues, such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) says Antara News.
“We hope that DKPTO can share its experiences with AI, such as its use in public services and other areas in Denmark,” he said at the same meeting.
Through this collaboration, it is hoped that Indonesia’s intellectual property system will grow stronger and become better prepared to face global challenges, he added.
