Indonesia, Japan Consider World Expo Collaboration

According to reporting from Antara News, Indonesia’s National Development Planning Ministry and Japan’s Economy, Trade, and Industry Ministry have discussed bilateral cooperation for the implementation of Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

Suharso Monoarfa, National Development Planning Minister explained on his official Instagram feed @suharsomonoarfa on Tuesday, that as a participant in the expo, Indonesia has been provided three alternative themes.

Monoarfa said that the first theme is “Welcoming the Future,” highlighting the high commitment of the Indonesian government to managing and preserving nature for the advancement of the country and its civilization, say Antara News.

The second theme is “Our Nature, Our Future,” considering that Indonesia has abundant natural resources and is committed to encouraging green development as its economic driver in the future, he added.

“The third theme is “Thriving in Harmony.” It emphasizes that Indonesia’s journey into the future is not only for the advancement (of the country), but also for the harmony (of the nation),” he said.

“The expo will give a vision about the future to visitors by providing a realistic illustration of future society, which is co-created along with various business players and other parties,” he explained.

Meanwhile, three issues will be raised during the world expo, the Indonesian minister said.

Antara News report that the first issue will be carbon neutrality to showcase various technologies that can be used to realize net-zero emissions, reach energy optimization, as well as utilize hydrogen energy.

The second issue is digitization, as the expo will provide futuristic entertainment, which will combine physical and digital entertainment.
Monoarfa said “It (the expo) will also apply digital technology to develop a sophisticated (visitor) reception system to evenly distribute the flow of visitors, while providing the best service for them.”

The last issue will be mobility, as visitors to the expo will get to experience using a flying car, which is expected to become a means of mobility in the future, he added.

Earlier, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin said that Expo 2025 could become an opportunity for Indonesia to promote its halal products and he encouraged the Indonesian diaspora in Japan to produce and import more Indonesian halal beverages, especially during the implementation of the world expo.
