Bank Indonesia’s Consumer Survey in August 2026 showed rising confidence in the economy compared with July.
In July, the Consumer Confidence Index stood at 116.8, climbing to 118.5 in August, signaling that sentiment has moved firmly into the optimistic zone.
The increase was supported by stronger perceptions of both current economic conditions and expectations for the months ahead.
Bank Indonesia (BI) noted that the Current Economic Condition Index rose to 109.4 from 107.9 in July, while the Consumer Expectation Index edged up to 127.6 from 125.7.
Improved views of the present economy were mainly driven by better assessments of job availability and durable goods purchases. The Job Availability Index rose to 104.1 from 101.1.
The rise in the Consumer Expectation Index shows that people have strong hopes for economic growth in the coming months. Consumers feel more confident about job prospects and the potential for higher income.
These survey results send a positive signal to market players amid ongoing economic dynamics. Household consumption is expected to remain resilient as the main engine of national growth.
