Eid al-Fitr Consumption Surge Predicted to Boost Economic Growth in Q1 2026

Eid al-Fitr is believed to be a driver of national economic growth at the beginning of 2026, triggered by a surge in public consumption.

According to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), the circulation of money during the Eid al-Fitr celebration and holidays has the potential to increase household consumption by an average of 10%–15%.

This increase is believed to further expand the circulation of money in society and support economic activity at the start of the year.

“The circulation of money during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebration and holidays, with household consumption rising by an average of 10%–15%, becomes a momentum to boost national economic growth in Q1 2026, which is targeted at 5.4% to 5.5%,” said Sarman Simanjorang, Deputy Chairman of Kadin Indonesia for Regional Autonomy, on Tuesday.

Optimism for Q1 2026 Growth

Sarman added that this optimism is also supported by overall economic activity in Q1 2026. During this period, there are several major holidays, ranging from Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 to Lunar New Year in February.

“We are very optimistic that economic growth in Q1 2026 can reach the target,” Sarman continued.

Therefore, Kadin believes that the Government needs to maximize this potential by maintaining public confidence so that consumption continues to move. One factor considered crucial is the assurance of fuel and gas availability so that people remain confident in spending.

“The most important thing is that the Government can maintain public psychology by providing guarantees and ensuring that the availability of fuel and gas is always met during and after Eid al-Fitr 2026, so that people are not hesitant to spend their money in their respective regions,” Sarman explained.
