Speaking to students at Bina Madani Putri Pesantren an Islamic boarding school in Magelang, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that each super-priority tourist destination in Indonesia will have a world-class health facility or hospital, according to reporting by Antara News.
The plan is based on the results of the National Coordination Meeting on the Development of Five Super-Priority Tourist Destinations, which was led by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, in Magelang District, Central Java, on Friday, Sandiaga said, adding that the work of realizing world-class health facilities will be carried out in cooperation with international institutions and by bringing in the world’s best doctors, including those from Indonesia, say Antara News.
The step is needed to make tourist destinations become centers of health tourism and wellness tourism, he said “because every year, our people spend over IDR 160-trillion (around USD 10.64-billion) to get health services abroad.”
