SEZ Investment Opportunities Offered to the UAE

In a written statement from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy received by Antara News on Saturday (6/1/24,) Sandiaga Uno offered investment in eight special economic zones (SEZs) to UAE Entrepreneurship and Educator Team for Economic Zone Development, Family Business Sustainability, and Education Chair, Adil Alzarooni.

The minister offered investment opportunities in the SEZs for the tourism and creative economy sector for Mandalika, Central Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara; Tanjung Kelayang, Belitung in Bangka Belitung; Likupang, North Minahasa in North Sulawesi; Tanjung Lesung, Pandeglang in Banten; Nongsa, Batam in Riau Islands; Lido, Bogor in West Java; Singhasari, Malang in East Java; and Morotai in North Maluku, report Antara News, adding that investment opportunities were also offered for the five super priority destinations of Borobudur, Toba Lake, Likupang, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo.

“During the meeting, we also offered Dr Adil Alzarooni to invest in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), including investment projects ready to be offered (IPRO) in Aceh and Bali,” Sandiaga said in the statement.

The investment offer was made on account of a continued increase in the number of tourist visits from the UAE to Indonesia. Referring to data on the realization of investment in the tourism sector from the UAE to Indonesia in 2023, the figure had reached USD 3.1-million, which is an increase of 429-percent as compared to that recorded in 2022, Antara News are reporting.

“What Indonesia needs is not only investment but also creating a good investment ecosystem, especially with the private sector. That is why we continue to encourage the involvement of the private sector through public-private partnerships (PPP) in accelerating development,” he said.

The minister expressed hope that the entry of investors can accelerate development and open up as many job opportunities as possible.

Antara News say that the investment offer made by the minister was also welcomed by Alzarooni, who, with more than two decades of experience in the fields of executive management, investment, sales, logistics, IT security, and economic zone development, expressed enthusiasm about coming to Indonesia.

“This offer is very attractive, and I can’t wait to make it happen,” Alzarooni said.
