Commission XI of the House of Representatives has officially approved Destry Damayanti as the Governor‑elect of Bank Indonesia for the 2026–2031, following an internal meeting on Thursday afternoon, 27 August 2026.
Destry becomes the first woman ever to be definitively chosen as Governor of Bank Indonesia, a milestone in the history of Indonesia’s central bank.
“The process of replacing the Governor, Senior Deputy Governor, and Deputy Governors has been carried out. We have completed the tasks at the commission level,” said Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chair of Commission XI DPR RI, at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta, Thursday (27/8).
Her nomination came directly from President Prabowo Subianto, who submitted a Presidential Letter to the House of Representatives on August 10, 2026, through Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
Before this appointment, Destry had been serving as Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia after Perry Warjiyo voluntarily stepped down for personal reasons on July 25, 2026.
President Prabowo also proposed candidates for other key positions: Aida S. Budiman as the sole nominee for Senior Deputy Governor, and Solikin M. Juhro together with M. Anwar Bashori as candidates for Deputy Governor. All nominees came from within the central bank.
After undergoing fit and proper tests on August 26–27, Commission XI agreed to endorse not only Destry Damayanti as Governor, but also Aida S. Budiman as Senior Deputy Governor and Solikin M. Juhro as Deputy Governor, all for the same term of office.
The three newly elected members of the Board of Governors will be formally confirmed during the House Plenary Session on September 1, 2026.
