According to the website of The President of The Republic of Indonesia, President Jokowi received Exxon Mobil Corporation Chairman Darren Woods at the Four Seasons Hotel, San Francisco, United States, on Wednesday (15/11/23), at which he appreciated the cooperation in building a green petrochemical refinery and Carbon Capture Storage (CSS) with a value of up to USD 15-billion.
The President noted that the CSS facility was the largest in Southeast Asia and the petrochemical complex was one of the most sophisticated in the world.
In a separate statement after the meeting, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said that during the conversation two things were discussed. The first is the plan to build a green petrochemical refinery that will be one of the most sophisticated in the world and the second is for carbon capture and storage, one of the largest in Southeast Asia.
Retno further revealed that in the meeting between President Jokowi and the Chairman of Exxon Mobil, the President also invited Exxon Mobil to invest in new and renewable energy and also green infrastructure development, including in IKN Nusantara.
Also accompanying President Jokowi at the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, and Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan.
