Indonesia’s modest fashion industry continues to gain momentum as new data highlights a significant rise in export performance. The sector recorded US$7.1 billion in exports from January to October 2025, marking a 3.9% increase from the same period last year. This upward trend reflects strong global demand and ongoing efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s creative economy.

Indonesia Modest Fashion Industry Shows Strong Export Growth

Latest figures from the Ministry of Trade show consistent export expansion across Indonesia’s modest fashion industry. The US$7.1 billion export value between January and October 2025 demonstrates solid market demand, supported by rising international recognition of Indonesian modest fashion design. Over the last five years, the sector has maintained a 3.13% growth rate, increasing from US$6.9 billion in 2020 to US$8.4 billion in 2024. This performance signals a strong global presence and highlights opportunities for further expansion.

Trade Minister Budi Santoso emphasized the sector’s potential to dominate both domestic and global markets. He noted that strong collaboration between designers and MSMEs continues to fuel innovation and improve product competitiveness. “The key to dominating the domestic market is having competitive products so our consumers realize how good our products are. One of the things we do is facilitate business matching with domestic buyers so products can enter department stores. It’s also important to build a strong ecosystem in e-commerce,” he said, as reported by Kontan.co.id.
