Danantara’s Management Structure: Who’s Leading the Fund?

Danantara's management structure personnel

Danantara’s management structure plays a crucial role in shaping Indonesia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund. With a leadership team focused on transparency and strategic investments, the fund aims to drive economic growth and investor confidence.

Danantara’s Management Structure and Key Leaders

On March 24, 2025, CEO Rosan Roeslani announced the complete leadership team of Danantara. He emphasized that assembling a competent team took longer than expected due to the need for individuals with integrity and clear track records.

“We initially planned to announce it last week, but finding the right people—those with integrity and clear track records—was not easy,” Rosan stated, as reported by Kompas.com.

President Prabowo Subianto appointed Rosan as CEO, alongside Dony Oskaria as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Pandu Sjahrir as Chief Investment Officer (CIO). These leaders bring extensive experience in finance and investment, ensuring Danantara is positioned for success.

Advisory and Oversight Committees: Ensuring Transparency

To maintain credibility, Danantara established an Advisory Council and an oversight committee. Former Indonesian Presidents Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Joko Widodo (Jokowi) serve as advisors, offering valuable insights from their leadership experiences.

Additionally, global financial experts, including Ray Dalio, Helman Sitohang, Jeffrey Sachs, F. Chapman Taylor, and former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, contribute to the Advisory Board. Thaksin’s presence is expected to provide perspectives on Southeast Asian investment opportunities.

Danantara also formed a transparency committee comprising top regulatory and legal figures, including the heads of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), and the National Police.

“We are very open to oversight. Whenever they want to analyze or audit, we are ready. This aligns with the transparency principles we uphold,” Rosan stated.

How Danantara’s Leadership Impacts Investment Strategy

Under its leadership, Danantara focuses on investments that foster long-term economic growth. Key investment sectors include:

  • Food security
  • Energy security
  • Industrial downstreaming
  • Digital infrastructure

“These sectors have great potential for Indonesia’s economic growth. We are also seeing high investment interest in these fields,” said Pandu Sjahrir, Danantara’s CIO.

These areas align with national economic priorities and attract both domestic and foreign investors looking for stable, high-growth opportunities.

Market Reactions to Danantara’s Leadership Announcement

The stock market responded sharply to the leadership announcement. On March 24, 2025, the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) initially dropped 4.6% to 5,967 before recovering to close at 6,161.22, down 1.55% overall. Investors reacted cautiously but showed signs of renewed confidence after the leadership team was revealed.

“Our index dropped significantly, almost 5%, but after Danantara’s management was announced, it rebounded. This shows that Indonesia’s market is driven by perception. Please give Danantara time,” said Iman Rachman, President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).

Danantara’s announcement follows global market trends, where investor sentiment plays a critical role in stock fluctuations. Similar market behavior was observed during international trade tensions, as analyzed in this article on Indonesia’s stock market reactions.

Future Outlook: What’s Next for Danantara?

With a strong leadership team and clear investment priorities, Danantara is expected to drive significant economic growth. Future strategies may include expanding partnerships, attracting global investors, and strengthening Indonesia’s financial infrastructure.

By focusing on transparency and impactful investments, Danantara aims to position itself as a key player in Indonesia’s financial ecosystem, boosting investor confidence and long-term economic stability.
