In a press release on the website of The President of The Republic of Indonesia published on Tuesday (3/12/24,) Indonesia’s Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani said that companies that are members of the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) expressed their optimism towards the investment climate in Indonesia under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, to create a conducive business environment.
“They are very excited because most of them have also invested in Indonesia and there are also those who will invest in Indonesia as well from minerals, oil, and gas,” he said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (3/12/24.)
According to him, investors welcomed the government’s commitment to enforce the law, eradicate corruption, and improve the ease of doing business in Indonesia. Minister Rosan assessed that these steps provide a sense of security and comfort for business actors.
“The President said there is no tolerance for corruption or negative things that will hinder investment. The rule of law will be strictly enforced and this also provides a sense of comfort to investors who have invested in Indonesia,” he continued.
In addition to the regulatory aspect, Minister Rosan also emphasized the importance of developing local human resources (HR). Rosan hopes that the investment made will not only support economic growth but also create technology transfer and increase the capacity of the Indonesian workforce.
“So, the hope is that when they invest, at the same time, they also build and increase the capacity of our human resources, our workers, and it is hoped that there will be a transfer of technology,” explained Rosan.
In the US-ABC meeting, Rosan also revealed that President Prabowo gave a firm answer regarding the government’s commitment to supporting collaboration between foreign and domestic investors to encourage sustainable economic growth.
“The President directly conveyed clearly how the Indonesian government is committed to continuing to work together to improve this economic curve by maintaining investment, both those that have entered Indonesia and those that will enter Indonesia, and also collaborating with domestic investors,” he said.
