Kontan is reporting that Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Andrews Military Base, Washington DC, United States, on Sunday (10/11/24,) following a state visit to China and is scheduled to hold a number of meetings, including with United States President Joe Biden at the White House on Tuesday (12/11/24.)
Quoting an official statement from the Palace on Monday (11/11/24), Prabowo’s arrival was welcomed by the Acting Chief of Protocol of the United States Ethan Rosenzweig, the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC Ida Bagus Made Bimantara, the Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC Air Marshal Wisoko Aribowo, and the Coordinator of Protocol and Communications of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC Gustaav Ferdinandus.
Accompanying President Prabowo on this visit were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Rosan Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, according to Kontan.
In a related story, Tempo is reporting that Prabowo made a phone call to congratulate President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, which was shared on the official Instagram account @Prabowo on Monday (11/11/24.)
“If possible, I would like to call on you personally. Wherever you are, I am willing to fly to congratulate you personally, sir,” said Prabowo in English, translated by Tempo.
So far, there has been no official statement from the Presidential Palace to confirm the meeting between Prabowo and Trump. However, earlier, the Head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi, said the possibility was open for Prabowo to meet Trump, according to Tempo.
