Indonesia, Germany Sign MoU for Industrial Vocational Training

Head of Indonesia’s Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI,) Masrokhan, said on Thursday (4/4/24) that the ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on industrial vocational education and training with Malikal Zentrum Institute (MZI), which represents the German Senior Experten Service (SES) in Indonesia, according to reporting from Antara News.

“This collaboration aims to ensure the quality of human resources produced by the Ministry of Industry’s vocational education unit to enter the German labor market,” he said, adding that the collaboration will focus on preparatory training for the Ausbildung program in Germany for the alumni of the ministry’s vocational education unit as well as the promotion of job opportunities in German industries.

Antara News reports that Ausbildung is a program to produce professional human resources as per the latest industry standards in Germany. The duration of the program is approximately three years and depends on the major or field of expertise. Masrokhan said that Indonesian training participants can choose from 348 Ausbildung majors.

During the program, participants will be guided by professional Meister-certified mentors. Participants will also be required to take a competency exam to ensure their skills meet German industry standards.

“I hope that many cooperation programs will continue after the signing of this MoU. Education units can utilize and improve their competencies through SES, while interested alumni can study and work in Germany through the Ausbildung program,” he said.

Director of the Malikal Zentrum Institute (MZI), Adam Pamma, said that the MoU signing will also open up opportunities for pilot collaboration among vocational education units in the two countries, according to Antara News.

“We hope the MoU can be followed up with more concrete steps. We are grateful for being involved in cooperation related to industrial human resources development in Indonesia,” Pamma added.
