President Jokowi officially started a groundbreaking ceremony for the first Central General Hospital (RSUP) in Indonesia’s new capital city of Nusantara (IKN) on Wednesday (20/12/23,) according to a release on the website of The President of The Republic of Indonesia.
This RSUP is the first government hospital to be built in IKN after three private hospitals started groundbreaking last September and November.
“We have started building three private hospitals which we had groundbreaking months ago. There are three (hospitals), the first is Hermina Hospital, the second is Abdi Waluyo Hospital, the third is Mayapada Hospital. And today we are groundbreaking again for the central general hospital which will be built by the government,” said the President.
President Jokowi also mentioned that there are already three other private hospitals that will soon carry out groundbreaking at IKN. With this amount, the Head of State also hopes that the hospital at IKN will be able to become a reference for treatment for the Indonesian people.
“When this is all done, none of our people will have to go to Malaysia, Singapore, Japan or America for their health. “We hope that everything can be done in Indonesia, in the capital city of Nusantara in particular,” he continued.
The RSUP in Nusantara, which will be built with a green building concept will concentrate on treating heart disease and strokes. The President is optimistic that patients who will seek treatment at RSUP can recover quickly with medical assistance and support from the IKN green area.
To make this happen, the President said that the government would carry out reforestation by replanting endemic trees in the IKN area.
“Today we will also do reforestation, greening, and planting endemic trees. Once again, so that the area Nusantara becomes a very green area, which in no other country can be found a capital as green as this,” he added.
Also accompanying the President at the event were Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/ National Land Agency Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Head of the IKN Authority Bambang Susantono, and Acting Governor of East Kalimantan Akmal Malik.
