President Joko Widodo welcomed the increasingly close relationship between Indonesia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In fact, Indonesia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia agreed to form the Indonesia-Saudi Arabia Supreme Coordination Council to strengthen cooperative relations between the two countries, according to a release posted on the website of The President of The Republic of Indonesia.
“Because in the midst of an increasingly divided world situation, friendship like that built by our two countries is increasingly necessary,” said the President in his introduction during a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister (PM) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KAS) Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud at the Palace. Al-Yamamah, Riyadh, on Thursday (19/10/23.)
On this occasion, the President also expressed Indonesia’s concern about the increasingly deteriorating situation in Palestine. The Head of State also emphasized Indonesia’s position of strongly condemning all attacks that impact humanity in that country.
“Indonesia strongly condemns Israel’s attack on Al Ahly Hospital in Gaza which resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties,” he continued.
For this reason, the President invited the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to work together to stop the escalation in conflict areas so that it does not escalate further. In addition, the Head of State encouraged the problems in the Palestinian and Israeli conflict areas to be resolved immediately in accordance with the agreed provisions.
