The Mayor of Makassar in South Sulawesi, Moh Ramdhan Pomanto announced that representatives from at least six nations have confirmed their attendance at the forthcoming 2023 Makassar Investment Forum (MIF), according to reporting from Antara News.
The countries being represented are South Korea, Australia, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, and Taiwan, he said, adding “they are all enthusiastic about participating in MIF 2023.”
Pomanto said the MIF will be held on the same day as the technical working meeting of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI) in Makassar on July 14, 2023.
He also said that his side is awaiting confirmation from the United Kingdom and Singapore regarding their participation in the forum, say Antara News.
Pomanto said that his side will offer the Japparate Commercial and Tourism Center (JCTC) investment project to foreign investors.
With an investment value of IDR 5-trillion (USD 332.4-million), the JCTC project will be carried out under a build, operate, and transfer cooperation scheme, report Antara News.
“So, we prepare the land and invite investors in, and they can develop it for years,” he said.
Head of the Makassar One-Stop Integrated Service and Investment Services, Andi Zulkifli Nanda, said the 2023 MIF will feature several activities, such as investment forums on smart city and transportation, business matching, and a gala dinner, say Antara News.
“There will also be a presentation on the JCTC project at the forum,” he informed.
Nanda also expressed the hope that the forum would help increase investment in Makassar city, considering the huge value of the JCTC project.
Apart from the 16th APEKSI national meeting, other events will also be held in Makassar from July 10–14, such as the Youth City Changers (YCC), the Indonesia City Expo, the City Tour and Culinary program, the Ladies Program, a cultural parade, and afternoon tea on a traditional Pinisi boat.
