Three Geothermal Working Areas Up For Tender

Think GeoEnergy are reporting on news from Detik Finance that the Indonesian government is set to announce the tender of three geothermal working areas (WKP) in West Java, Central Java and Central Sulawesi.

The news was announced by Harris Yahya, Director of Geothermal, Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. According to reporting, the three sites are:

  • Cisolok WKP in Sukabumi, West Java
  • Guci WKP in Semarang, Central Java
  • Bora Pulu WKP in Central Sulawesi

Harris Yahya mentioned that all three areas have potential of more than 50 MW and that they already have initial data.

The Cisoloko and Guci sites were previously awarded to PT Jabar Rekind Geothermal and PT Spring Energi Sentosa, say Think GeoEnergy, but their permits were revoked in 2020 after their exploration period had passed and no significant progress had been made to develop the sites.
